Awards may have been in short supply following the ill-fated 2019/20 season but South Devon Football League Division One side Waldon Athletic Reserves are one of the few clubs to pick one up – the Devon FA’s Charles Nosworthy Award.

The Clarets were nominated for the award by the SDFL management committee in recognition of the team’s three seasons of consistent fair play in the league’s competitions:

In the 2017/18 season, Waldon won their division’s Fair Play trophy and also scooped a number of monthly Respect awards for their excellent disciplinary record.

The following season, they went one better by winning the Fair Play trophy for both their division and the league as a whole.

And the Torquay side were on course for another superb season on the disciplinary front in 2019/20 before COVID-19 ended the season halfway through.

On winning the Charles Norsworthy Award, Waldon Athletic Chairman Keith Aplin said:

“Waldon are a long-standing club with a history going back over 60 years. The Reserves alone have been going for 40-odd years.

“It is nice to get some recognition for the hard work everyone has put in “.
