Torbay Clearance Services South Devon Football League Premier Division leaders Kingsteignton Athletic remain unbeaten and haven’t conceded in their last two games. Goals from Ross Beer and Ollie Kewell gave the Rams an important 2-0 win over local rivals Watts Blake Bearne on Saturday.
Buckfastleigh Rangers’ impressive form continues. They won 3-1 at Paignton Saints Reserves who are yet to pick up a point, Steve Sutton with all three of the visitors’ goals and Joseph Franklin with Saints’ consolation.
Despite a summer exodus from the club, Brixham AFC Reserves, last season’s runners-up, have defied expectations to win their last three games on the trot. Saturday’s victory was a convincing 3-0 home win over Elburton Villa Reserves at Wall Park with Ryan Walton scoring twice and Josh Cawsey joining him on the score-sheet.
Waldon Athletic celebrated a fourth win of the season, beating East Allington United 2-1 at Windmill Hill. Oliver Mason and Oliver Moxham found the net for the Clarets with Dylan Coates on target for the Pirates.
Chudleigh Athletic celebrated their first victory of the campaign with a 3-1 home win over Newton Abbot ’66. Jason Lake doubled up for Chudleigh with Christian Williams also scoring. Joe Clark-Farley netted for the Sixes who have yet to win a league game.
The SDFL’s last remaining club in the Devon Premier Cup, Ivybridge Town Reserves, battled well against unbeaten Newtown, from the Devon Football League, as they aimed to secure a place in the quarter-finals. Goals from Charles Colman and Mike Vanstone put the Ivies in a good position to cause an upset, but the visitors fought back to win 4-2.
In contrast, seven out of the last 16 in the Devon Senior Cup will be from the SDFL after a productive weekend in that competition.
Alan Hamlet’s hat-trick helped Harbertonford progress against visiting Lympstone, 6-2 the final result from the Steve Jane Memorial Ground. Robert Young also scored three times, for Ilsington Villa in their 6-2 triumph at Landkey Town. Totnes, Dartington and Meadowbrook also cruised through, beating Appledore Reserves 6-1 at the Foxhole Ground. Liam Houlahan bagged a brace for Tots.
A single goal was enough for East Allington United Reserves against Witheridge, Gareth Head with a second half winner at Poole Lane.
In the all-SDFL clashes, Dalton Brammer’s brace for Morley Rangers saw them progress at the expense of Babbacombe Corinthians. Beesands Rovers despatched hosts Paignton Villa from the competition with Louis Brace, Lee Morgan and Bradley Williams scoring in a 3-0 win.
Watcombe Wanderers will feel unlucky not to be in the hat after having two penalty appeals and a goal denied at Seaton Town. Seaton won the game 1-0. Newton Abbot Spurs Thirds also lost out 1-0, beaten at home by Teignmouth Reserves.
Ben Moyle claimed the match ball as Bovey Tracey Reserves demolished Kingsley Park 10-1 at Victoria Park in Bideford to make the last 16 of the Devon Intermediate Cup. They will be joined in the hat by Kingsbridge and Kellaton United, Waldon Athletic Reserves and Watcombe Wanderers Reserves.
Torquay Town took over at the top of Division One with a 3-1 win over Barton Athletic who put in a decent performance despite their lowly position. Draw specialists Upton Athletic shared the spoils with visiting Buckfastleigh Rangers Reserves, Kirean Nixon and Alex Johnston trading goals.
A Joshua McMahon brace helped Waldon Athletic Thirds to a 4-2 win over Paignton Villa Thirds in Division Four. The clarets go joint top on points with South Brent who were held 1-1 at home by Totnes, Dartington and Meadowbrook Reserves.
