Our 2019/20 end of season presentation for our two youth teams, took place via zoom technology due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under 11 and 13 managers Matt Green and Jamie McInnes, announced the awards following the premature conclusion to the league seasons at each level.
You can catch up with the award winners and their respective managers comments below:
UNDER 13’s 2019/20
Top Scorer: Ella
Ella has greatly impressed everyone during her first season playing for the team, and could quite easily have won any of the awards. She began the season playing in central defence, but a shift into an attacking midfield role proved hugely successful, as she bagged herself 7 goals from 10 games.
Supporters Player: Sienna
A tenacious defender and a mainstay of the team, Sienna was awarded our Parents Player of the Season for 2019/20. Another player who was a strong contender in all the categories, Sienna has impressed with her determination, strength and never-say-die attitude.
Most Improved: Jazz
A versatile and dedicated footballer, Jazz has been recognised as this season’s Most Improved Player. This was a tough decision, as the whole team has improved immeasurably during the past 12 months, however Jazz displays the epitome of this improvement and is fully deserving of the award. Towards the end of the season, Jazz played her part in a superb defensive effort.
Managers Player of the year: Evie & Lily
An incredibly tough decision for Manager’s Player of the Season, and in the end two players cannot be separated for the award.
Evie has been a consistent performer in the defence for two seasons now, and can be completely relied upon game after game. A quiet individual who has come up against some fierce opposition attackers, she has held her own and provides the solid base from which the team can build their strong performances.
Lily has worked incredibly hard on improving her game over the last year. She is willing to play wherever asked and puts the needs of the team first always. Lily is a kind, thoughtful and encouraging team mate who can be relied upon to give 100% at all times, both in training and matches.
Players Player of the Year: Gemma
Our captain and a real leader, both on and off the pitch. Gemma has been another mainstay for the team in midfield, and has produced some outstanding performances this season, particularly against the strongest of opposition. She has scored some important goals this season, and leads from the front in her determination and drive to do well, and this sets a superb example to her team mates.
UNDER 11’s 2019/20
Top Scorer: Haidee
Across all the competitions we have played in this season, Haidee has been in and around the goals throughout. She is a player with a definite eye for goal and has scored a number of long range efforts from midfield.
Supporters Player: Amelia
This award has been voted for by the parents of the squad. Amelia has done fantastically well in every game we have played this season, she has taken a fair few knocks in games, but gets straight back up and carries on. Amelia has shown great determination and has pulled off some fine saves this year with some fantastic reactions and reflexes.
Most Improved: Keeley
Keeley has impressed me a lot, as the season has gone on, she trains most weeks and has really developed into a key player within the squad. Her calmness on the ball and ability to make good decisions has really stood out to me in the games that we have played and she always gives 100%. We look forward to seeing more development in the new season.
Managers Player of the year: Haidee
A very tough decision for me this year, as I think all the parents would agree that the team has come a long way since that first performance against Newton Fire when I think we were 4-0 down in the opening 10/15 minutes. I would have loved to sit on the fence and named a whole host of players, but I had to make a decision. Haidee for me has stood out in most of our games, she has captained the side and had a hand in most of the goals the team has scored this season. She works hard at training and will ask many questions throughout the sessions. A natural talent that we look forward to working with for another season.
Players Player of the Year: Brianna
So in any football team this is the award to win, because it has been voted for by your team mates. Brianna is a very deserved winner of this award as she really does train like she plays with 100%. No matter what the weather or pitch conditions she is there. In the whole season I can’t recall many players taking the ball past her on a 1 on 1 situation and having played most of the season in defence this attribute is key. I’m really pleased Brianna has been recognised for all the hard work she puts in by her teammates, congratulations ‘B’.
