Title Race Down To Just Two? – Round Up

The postponement of Torquay United’s match this weekend gave third-placed Sherborne Town Ladies a chance to keep up the pressure, as they visited fourth-placed Forest Green Rovers Women.

But, the match at The New Lawn didn’t go Sherborne’s way. Erin Williams and Rhian Robbins netted for Rovers before half time and substitute Leilani Ryder made sure of the points with her first contribution of the game to seal a 3-0 home win. Forest Green leapfrog Sherborne into third.

And the Dorset side now needs the unlikeliest result next weekend, Bishops Lydeard to beat the leaders, Marine Academy Plymouth, if they’re to remain in the title mathematics.

In the only other game of the weekend, Poole Town Ladies hosted Frampton Rangers Ladies at the Dorset County Ground, with the visitors running out 2-1 winners. The defeat leaves Poole six points clear of the relegation zone but Bishops Lydeard have three games in hand, two against bottom side AFC St Austell, and they still have to visit Poole.
