The Regen Arable South West Regional Women’s Premier League is officially underway. United’s women weren’t in action on day 1, but had an eye on the first round of fixtures, as they prepare for their season-opener, next Sunday at AEK Boco Ladies.
Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies were the high-flyers, opening their season with a 7-0 home thrashing of Pucklechurch Sports Ladies; Carmen Morrison scored a hat trick and there was a brace for Samantha Drewery.
Forest Green Rovers Women started well too, 5-1 winners at Ilminster Sports Ladies, where Rhiann Robins bagged a brace. Holly Meakins also scored twice as Bishops Lydeard Ladies beat Frampton Rangers Ladies 3-0, while in the final league encounter of week one, Poole Town Ladies were 2-0 winners over St Austell Town Ladies.
And there was an important game from a Torquay perspective in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, where Plympton Ladies beat Bideford AFC 6-0. United will now host Plympton in the second qualifying round on Sunday 22nd September.
