Sherborne Close The Gap As Cup Dominates Fixtures – Round Up

Various County Cup competitions dominated the weekend fixtures, with just three league games taking place in the South West Regional Women’s Premier League.

The most important from a Torquay United perspective was Sherborne Town Ladies’ short trip to Poole Town Ladies. It was the visitors who took all three points courtesy of a 2-1 win. Molly Gladwell got both goals for the visitors while Emma King was on target for Poole. Sherborne stay third, but are now just a point behind United having played the same number of games (11).

But the two teams below Poole and in the relegation zone failed to capitalise on the Dorset sides’ defeat. At the bottom of the table, AFC St Austell Ladies were narrowly beaten 2-1 at home by Ilminster Town Ladies. Mia Macnab scored for St Austell, but a penalty eventually took the points back to Somerset.

Bishops Lydeard Ladies couldn’t take advantage either, losing 4-1 at AEK Boco Ladies, the hosts with four different names on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere in their County Cup competitions, Frampton Rangers Ladies had FIVE different scorers in their 5-1 win over Mangotsfield United Women. Forest Green Rovers lost 3-0 at home to Bristol City Women Academy Youth U21, and Pucklechurch Sports Ladies were thumped 11-0 at Cheltenham Town Women.
