F.A. Cup 1st Round: United Home Again!

Torquay United have been handed another home tie in the Adobe Women’s F.A. Cup, in the draw made this lunchtime.

United will face National League Division One South West side, Bridgewater United Women, and will once again come up against a number of former players in Beth Everson, Chloe Kind, and Jess Smith. Bridgewater have also just added ex-Grecian, Manfy Sharpe, to their number, and she netted her first goal, a penalty, in Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Forest Green Rovers in the third qualifying round.

These two last met in the National League campaign of 23/24. Despite two competitive games, it was the Somerset side who triumphed in both, winning 1-0 on a rain-sodden night at Fairfax Park and 2-0 in the late-season encounter at Dawlish, where Ellie Bishop, now back in Torquay colours scored one of the goals. The game will also see United’s Jasmine Read, Alex Sheppard, and Lexie Watts up against their former side.

The game will be played on Sunday 3rd November with a 2 pm kick-off. In turn, it means that the scheduled South West Regional Women’s Premier League match against Bishops Lydeard will now be played at a later date, which will be confirmed in due course.
