Just two of the five fixtures in the South West Regional Women’s Premier League survived the latest storm to hit the south west, but both games had bearing on the title race.
Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies extended their advantage at the top with a 3-0 win at Poole Town Ladies. Samantha Drewery (2) and Kelsey Blight were the goalscorers as M.A.P. moved onto 39 points, fourteen ahead of Torquay United, who now have FIVE games in hand. Such has been the unpredictable effect of the weather this winter, that M.A.P. have just four games left, whereas United virtually have half a season still to play (9 games)!
United dropped to third spot after their match at Sherborne Town Ladies was called off. They’ve been leapfrogged by Forest Green Rovers Women, who were 3-2 winners at Frampton Rangers Ladies. Erin Williams scored twice for Rovers as they moved to 26 points from thirteen matches. They’re 13 points adrift of M.A.P. with just three games in hand. Torquay head to Frampton on Sunday in third place, on 25 points from eleven outings.
The games between AEK Boco and Pucklechurch Sports, and AFC St Austell and Bishops Lydeard were both lost to the weather.
