With Torquay United devoid of action for another weekend due to the postponement of the Pucklechurch Sports match, Sunday afternoon turned into a pretty good one for The Gulls, as all the other sides in the top five dropped points.
The league leaders going into the weekend were Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Sherborne Town Ladies at Manadon, courtesy of a late Charlotte Harmer goal. MAP stays top with 20 points from 9 outings, four ahead of Torquay who now have three games in hand. Sherborne remains the only other unbeaten side in the division alongside Torquay and they’re now a point behind United on 15, having played a game more.
Second-placed Forest Green Rovers Women lost 2-0 at AEK Boco Ladies for whom Charlotte Daly and Jess Dobbins were on target in either half.
Ilminster Town Ladies, who started the day in fifth place were at bottom-two side Poole Town Ladies, but went down 3-1 in Dorset with Maisie Riley scoring twice.
Basement side, AFC St Austell Ladies game at home to Bishops Lydeard Ladies fell foul of the weather.
And Frampton Rangers Ladies, who were the odd team out in the 11-team division this week, dropped into the bottom two because of Poole’s victory.
