Once again the eleven-team South West Regional Women’s Premier League, saw Torquay United play odd team out again this weekend, giving their title rivals a chance to move further clear at the top of the table.
Leaders, Forest Green Rovers Women were emphatic 7-1 winners at Bishops Lydeard Ladies, where Jemima Guise scored a hat-trick. Rovers are now five points ahead of Torquay, though United have two games in hand.
Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies began the weekend in third spot on goal difference behind United and continued their good form with a 4-2 win at home to AEK Boco Ladies. Amy Pridham added to her season tally for MAP. Marine now three points ahead of United but the Gulls have two games in hand.
Ilminster Town Ladies also started the weekend level on points with Torquay as they hosted Sherborne Town Ladies, who, alongside United, are the only other unbeaten team in the division. The visitors maintained that unbeaten record with a 5-1 victory, and both Kelly and Chloe Snook were on target again. That result takes Sherborne above Torquay into third, but United have played one less.
Pucklechurch Sports Ladies, who’ve regrouped after a poor start were held 2-2 at home by Poole Town Ladies.
And the division’s bottom two sides met as AFC St Austell Ladies entertained Frampton Rangers Ladies. Shannon Francis, Abigail Todd and Katie Rawlings were on target as Frampton ran out 3-0 winners.
