With pre-weekend leaders, Forest Green Rovers Women, not in action, Torquay United missed out on the opportunity to go top, as their fixture at Pucklechurch Sports Ladies, was one of three postponements.
With heavy rain across the country throughout the week and Storm Ashley’s forecast to ravage the UK overnight Saturday into Sunday, the Pucklechurch Rec pitch was deemed unplayable on Saturday afternoon.
Also falling foul of the weather, was Sherborne Town Ladies’ trip to Poole Town Ladies and both the county cup games for AFC St Austell Ladies and Frampton Rangers Ladies.
It meant advantage Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies, who began the day in third spot, but leapt to the top with a 5-0 win against Bishops Lydeard. Amy Pridham added two more to her season tally with Carmen Morrison, Taylor Ford, and Kelsey Blight also on target.
Fourth-placed Ilminster Town Ladies travelled to AEK Boco Ladies in an eventful encounter with the visitors running out 7-3 winners!! Aimee Kingdon netted four times for Ilminster. Jodi Cornwall, Lannece Hole, and an Ellie Orritt penalty completed their scoring.
It means United are now in fourth place, two points behind Ilminster (3rd) and Forest Green (2nd), though Ilminster have played 7 while United and Rovers have played four each. Marine Academy Plymouth are a further point ahead, but having played six games.
