Fresh from their inaugural season competing in the FA Women’s National League, 2024/25 will see United’s women playing a more prominent role at TUFC than ever before, as they look to bounce back to the FAWNL at the first attempt.
A wave of optimism has been accompanying the new era here at Plainmoor recently, and there’s no doubt that Torquay United Women have a vital role in the club’s continued progression as an inclusive football club. With the club now providing an environment for all players and staff to be welcomed into, and one in which they can thrive, CEO Joe Lovell spoke of his enthusiasm for the season ahead – on and off the pitch.
“It’s an exciting time for everyone involved with Torquay United, and we are looking forward to our women’s side playing a big part in our progression as an inclusive football club,” said Lovell.
United’s new signings and retained squad will be announced shortly, with their first pre-season fixture taking place at Devon FA this Sunday against Braunton FC (2pm kick-off)
That initial warm-up test will then be followed by an away trip to Exeter City on the 21st July, before a return back to Coach Road to face Plymouth Argyle two days later.
In another exciting development, radio equipment provided by the club will allow the Yellow Army to listen to Torquay United Women’s matches throughout 2024/25, with regular commentator Ray Duffy again taking his place behind the mic in the commentary box next season.
Further details regarding radio coverage of these matches will be announced in due course.
