Salcombe Town added to last week’s cup joy with their first league victory of 2020, firing eight past Newton Abbot ’66 with no reply. The win moves the South Hams side into the top six of the WBW (Solicitors) SDFL Premier Division.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nAshley Yeoman scored a hat-trick for\nthe Crabs, Charlie Barnes put away a brace and there were goals for\nJoshua Harris, Luke Milton and Kieran Stallard. For the Sixes, it was\ntheir worst defeat of the season and will have been particuarly\ndisappointing following their 1-1 draw with Torbay Police a week\nearlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe only other league game to get the\ngreen light was at the Galmpton War Memorial Ground where the Greens\nplayed host to Broadhempston United in a Division Two clash. Joe\nMassey scored twice for the home side in a 5-0 triumph which sees\nthem move to within a point of unbeaten leaders Upton Athletic. The\nother goals came from Will Baker, Samuel Massey and, from the bench,\nJack Thomson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThere were also two games played in\nthe divisional cups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nIvybridge Town Reserves claimed an\nimpressive scalp in the George Belli (Premier) Cup as they knocked\nout title-chasing Torbay Police 4-1 at Erme Park. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nIt’s not often that a player scores a\nhat-trick yet ends up on the losing side yet that’s what happened to\nIlsington Villa’s Matt Warman. Villa were away to Paignton Saints\nReserves in the Lidstone (Division Two) Cup and found themselves\ntrailing 2-0 at the break. Villa did stage a fight back in the second\nhalf but Saints kept adding more goals to cancel out Warman’s efforts\nand the game finished 5-3 to the home side. Shaun Cotton and Ian\nSimons scored twice for Saints with Jason Dingley also on target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe top four in the Premier Division\nare all away on Saturday. Leaders East Allington United, who haven’t\nplayed for a month, are away at Newton ’66. Torbay Police will once\nagain visit Ivybridge Reserves while Ipplepen Athletic have a trip to\nSalcombe and Meadowbrook Athletic play at Buckland Athletic\nDevelopment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
