Torquay United have the opportunity to retake second place in the South West Regional Women\u2019s Premier League this weekend, and severely dent their opponent’s title chances, as Forest Green Rovers visit Coach Road on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United turned in a thoroughly professional performance to win 3-0 in the earlier meeting of these two, at Hartpury University, back in October. And, if they can produce similar back on the synthetic surface they like in Newton Abbot, they will go above Rovers on goal difference and still with a game in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forest Green started the season as one of the title favourites, alongside United, Marine Academy Plymouth, and Sherborne, and they\u2019ve generally lived up to that billing.\u00a0 The defeat at home to United, and a curious one at AEK Boco Ladies are their defeats but they were also held to a 1-1 draw at Ilminster Town Ladies, so they can ill-afford any more dropped points, especially against a title rival. They are though, the only side to inflict defeat on league-leaders MAP, and that was an away win so United under-estimate Rovers at their peril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They don\u2019t boast a high scorer but do have goals from a number of players this season.  Rhiann Roberts leads the way with just five while Irene Iguado, impressive in the first meeting is amongst several players to have netted three times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United found the net five times last week, skipper Tracey Cross leading the way with a brace and taking her tally to six on the season.  Lucy Solloway leads Torquay scorers with 12, and after a couple of games without a goal, was unlucky not to get a goal on Sunday that her work rate deserved.  At the back meanwhile, Torquay are without a clean sheet in their last three.  Sunday would be a good time to put that right!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
