It’s been 18 months since Torquay United defender Sasha Mole kicked a ball in competitive action, in what was ultimately a highly eventful 1-1 draw at Liskeard, that eventually paved the way for United’s path to the National League.

Sasha’s was the first in a series of ACL and related injuries that cost United a raft of defenders last season (Millie Klinkenberg, Emma Hollingsworth, Amy Salter), but which came at a time of huge interest in the rising numbers of knee injuries being sustained by female footballers. England captain Leah Williamson, her Arsenal and England teammate, Beth Mead, and then fellow Gunners striker, Viviana Meidema were all sidelined at a similar time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sasha’s path back has been a long road, but, she has never been far away from the United camp during the process, and finally appeared on the teamsheet, as a substitute for the 4-2 win over Poole Town.

In the commentary box during last weekend’s victory over AFC St Austell Ladies, Sasha had time to talk about the whole process that’s brought her back to the cusp of a return to action.
